New Look’s AW14 Collection

Hello lovelies,

#NLAW14
#NLAW14

A little over a week ago, I attended the New Look AW14 Press Preview to discover the latest pieces and trends of the season. AJ, Dubai Mall’s New Look Store Manager showed me around and introduced me to all the key pieces at the event. I compiled all the womenswear trends that I noticed in the above word collage and here are a couple of photos I took at the event itself. Please excuse the phone quality pics.

Prints I loved: Houndstooth, Dalmatian, Floral, Animal, Checks, Tribal

Colors I loved: Military Green, Pastels, Neon pops and Monochrome

Party pieces: The mini faux-fur capes (available in black, cream leopard and grey), embellished dresses, sequined tops, statement blanket pieces.

Top Trends: Utility Chic & Boho Luxe

Here are some of my favorite looks from the AW14 Campaign images:

^ This skirt is my favorite piece from the entire collection. I loved the longer hemlines this season. I would pair this skirt with a chunky khaki sweater or a heavy crop sweater like the one above and some heavy boots to tone down the femininity of the skirt. So Utility Chic!

^ Checks, checks and more checks. They are a big deal this season in everything from elegant tailoring, statement clutches and killer heels to cozy scarves, sweaters and blanket coats.

At the event, AJ also introduced me to the menswear collection that has a strong naval and military influences. The color palette is inspired by stormy seas and dark skies. Lots of prints and heavy textures in the collection with cable knit jumpers, wool pea coats, Breton stripes and heavy military boots. I really like these two sweaters and shirt.

Online Window Shopping #1

Hello my lovelies,

What do you do when you don’t really have the money to shop? Uhm. Window shop…Duh! In this new blog post series, I am going to share with you some stuff that I love around the web. First up – clothes! Skirts to be more specific. See, ASOS is offering a 25 percent discount on their selection of ‘sweet skirts‘. I love shopping at ASOS because they have a great selection of items ranging from apparel to beauty and gifts! I also love the easy-to-navigate site, their trend reports, the outfit styling and the option to watch the clothes you are interested in on the runway via their catwalk video! It truly does aid in the daunting decision making process and eliminate certain questions (I wonder how it’ll fit…will it stick to my thighs? Yada yada yada?).¬†Their delivery is always on time with free international shipping and many-a-times, they offer wonderful discounts to their customers just because we’re awesome and so are they!

The website’s current skirts promotion features tons of Midis which is great for me because I am HUGE fan…I repeat, a HUGE fan of the MIDI! Without any further ado, here are some of my favorites:

My favorites from the ¬†‘Get Skirty’ promo @ asos.com

I have ¬†a feeling that I’m going to cave in and buy at least ONE of them this weekend. Haha. Look through the site and tell me what are some of your faves. Happy shopping…or if you are broke like me…happy window shopping!¬†

Hairspiration: Headbands

Recently, I’ve been purchasing and wearing a ton of headbands, mostly elastic ones. I went on my headband spree after purchasing two in tie-able ones while I was shopping at Platinum Mall in Bangkok, Thailand.

Headbands are such fun accessories. They can keep your bangs back when you don’t really want them and they can look really really cute. It’s so true that most people tend to stay away from wearing them because they think that headbands look childish. I remember, just this past Christmas, I wore a golden sparkle headband and my brother said it made me look like a child!

In this post, I thought I’d share with you some really fun ways to dress your hair with these cute accessories after discovering them myself. :-)

This is how I normally wear my headbands! I absolutely love the entire boho chic style. Even with all the accessories, the style still somehow looks simple and effortless. Here are two images of me wearing my headbands boho style.

If you have bangs, wear your headbands just where they start! I’ve always loved the headband and bangs combination as it makes you look very childlike and innocent.

I need to try this! I love how graceful it looks.

This is on top of my to do list. I bet I could do this with the tie-able lace headbands that I got from Thailand however, they are too thin. Maybe I just might try this with one of my cloth belts!

For those days were you just don’t feel like doing anything with your hair, wear it in a high ponytail or bun and just add colorful headbands or sparkly ones to make it look like you weren’t really lazy at all! ¬†I wear it like this on many-a-work days, mostly with my hair pinned high-up to the side.

What do you think of the headband trend? Is it for you?

A Productive Holiday Break

Hello lovelies,

Let me start by wishing you all a very Happy Eid and I hope you are enjoying the Eid Break. :)

I’ve actually been off work since last Thursday 6pm, so yes, I am currently on a super long holiday. A couple of pictures portraying the highlight of my holiday to be posted soon. Till then, this post is about what I have been doing otherwise; well, besides the stuffing my face with food bit and gluing my behind to my bed and my eyes to my laptop screen, trying to catch up on all the TV episodes that I have missed. I can tell you this – I still have a good 50 shows to go! But that’s okay I suppose because I have also been doing something else like cleaning up and organizing! I’ve been procrastinating organizing my things for so long that there were shopping and gift bags on almost every inch of my bedroom floor until I got them all packed and sorted. After that, I organized my accessories, perfumes and bath and body stuff. Here are a couple of pictures.

So, this is what two of my open cupboards look like now. Close-up? Yeah, sure. Why not?

My fragrances + earrings + rings

Let’s start with the perfumes. I’ve segregated them into Day & Night perfumes. Here are some of my favorite day-time ones featuring fresh, floral, light, powdery & sweet scents.

Front Row – Benefit, Chopard, L’Occitane, Repetto, Issey Miyake & Jo Malone

These evening-time fragrances boast depth, mystery and warmth! Gotta love ’em.

Front Row - Benefit, J'adore, Gucci, Bvlgari, Lady Gaga, Tom Ford, Jo Malone, Marc Jacobs & The Body Shop
FBenefit, J’adore, So..?, Gucci, L’Occitane, Nayomi, ¬†Bvlgari, Lady Gaga, Tom Ford, Jo Malone, Marc Jacobs & The Body Shop.

Sadly, I don’t have the skill of making beautiful displays but hey, I’ll get there...someday…hopefully! Anyway, here are close-ups of my earrings collection. As I mentioned many-a-times before, I am an earring addict. I cannot never leave home without a pair of studs!

First up – the blacks, browns, neutrals, grays & silvers plus my geometric studs!

Earrings Collection Part One.
Earrings Collection Part One.

Messy, I know! But I like it looking like this way as opposed to all neat  which will in turn require me to introduce more Styrofoam to the cupboards! Most of my earrings are from Forever 21, New Look, Aldo, J Crew, H&M and a couple of other brands that I forget now. Okay. Take a look at the colored, gold & white collection now with a little box of rings right in the middle.

Earrings Collection Part Two
Earrings Collection Part Two

I didn’t really bother taking a close-up of the rings since I don’t normally wear too much of ’em although, some of them are darn pretty! Later on, I am going to take a close-up picture of the studs I own. They are the cutest. Recently, I’ve lost two really pretty cute earrings. To me, it’s one of the worst feelings ever. I always make it a point to buy really unique earrings and when I do lose them, I am always so upset ¬†because I know that I will never be able to find another pair again. Grrr.

Okay. So that was a little part of my accessories collection. Gonna move on to my bath & body stuff now Рso much fun!

Bath & Body Collection
Bath & Body Collection

So, these are just a few of the products I use every now and then, when it comes to bath or shower time. Yep, that’s right! I like to switch things up¬†hence the almost- vast collection!

Body Mists Collection.
Body Mists Collection.

The majority of these body sprays are from Bath & Body Works. Not a lot of brands do it as good and as fun as they do it, don’t you agree? Oh, say hi to Marco the piggie bank ūüėÄ Man. It’s been ages since I last cracked him open to check how many coins I’ve saved! Oh and the little Dalmatian there chilling in the tub of my hand-cream stash, well, that’s my boyfriend’s childhood friend that I stole. Shhh. Keep it on the down-low!

Body Butters, Creams, Lotions & Oils
Body Butters, Creams, Lotions & Oils

I can never have too many lotions and creams. I absolutely love using a different one each day. The Bath & Body Works’ True Blue Spa rich shea butter body cream that you see in the far right is what I am currently using and abusing right now; I’ve bought around 10 of these tubes and now I am down to my last one!

DSCN0578
Body Washes

Bubble baths, shower creams & gels!  Gotta love cleaning time! And since I am still on holiday Рthat is exactly what I am going to do Рhave a nice hot bath, right after I finish watching my Tuesday shows!

Tomorrow is the last day before I resume work on Thursday so, I am thinking it’s a good time to go shopping in my closet(s) through all those pieces of clothing that I’ve stuffed in there over the months!

So, what have you guys been up to during the holidays? Fun parties or travels? I’d love to know. What do you think about my collection? Are you a steady organizer or do you let your things collect dust for way too long like me?

Accessories Haul: New Look + Spring

…mostly New Look!¬†

‘Morning lovelies,

So, in my previous post, I mentioned that I should really put together a page of FAQs for you guys but until I get around to doing that, I will be  telling you something about me every now and then in my posts.

Let’s start with my obsessive devotion to earrings! I seriously cannot go a day without wearing a pair. They truly add so much to your overall look; I practically feel naked without them. My collection of accessories and earrings are ever growing! I will be taking a couple of pictures of how I organize all my earrings very soon. Till then, here are a few pictures of what I bought from New Look and Spring when I went shopping close to two weeks ago at Ibn Battuta Mall! Some of you that follow me on Instagram may have already seen the pieces but here they are in detail. Let me know what you think. :-)

I am really running out of storage space for my accessories, therefore I really can’t wait to get some good spare time so I can create some more place, especially for my earrings. Will update you on that soon. :-)

What did you guys think of these buys? What was the last haul you came home with and what’s your favorite accessories trend this season?
